Findlay Ironside
Writer, Director, Producer
Findlay Ironside (she/her) is an emerging screenwriter, producer, and director. She is a recent graduate of the MFA Scriptwriting and Story Design program at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) during which she was one of ten students from across North America participating in an emerging filmmakers incubator program through Film Independent in partnership with HieronyVision. She is also the co-founder of the production company Jane of All Trades Productions Inc. alongside creative partner Amanda Werger.
Findlay’s work largely focuses on slice of life narratives that tend to be dark in nature, but balanced by hopeful undertones. She enjoys dissecting difficult and emotional subject matter, and exploring tenuous family relationships in her writing. The script for her upcoming film, “Family Portraits,” has received over a dozen laurels, and most notably won the Raindance Film Festival script contest at the Oscar / BAFTA qualifying festival in 2024. Her most recent short film, “First Rites,” had its world premiere in July of 2025 at the critically acclaimed Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal. Outside of her filmmaking aspirations, Findlay is a working costume designer, experienced photographer, published children's author, and special education coordinator.

Her upcoming projects as a producer include: "Sue Me" a proof of concept short from Sherry Li and Minda Wei, "No Dogs" a narrative short from Aidan Lesser, and "Stray" a debut short from Dasha Sim.

As a director, Findlay is currently in pre-production on a body-horror short with the same team from "First Rites," and is also actively developing a dramatic-thriller short.
